Flipkart's highly anticipated Big Billion Days 2025 sale officially launched for everyone on September 23, a day following early access for Flipkart Black and Plus members on September 22. As predicted, the online giant teased mind-boggling offers on best-selling Apple products, including new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro devices. With the promoted effective price of ₹51,999 for the iPhone 16 (128GB) and ₹69,999 for the iPhone 16 Pro (128GB), customers ran towards snapping up the offers.

The enthusiasm soon gave way to disappointment for numerous buyers as Flipkart allegedly cancelled a few confirmed orders just hours after payment. The untoward development resulted in some buyers accusing Flipkart of conducting a scam during its largest annual sale.
Flipkart had promoted its massive Apple iPhone offers throughout banners, social media promotions, and push notifications. As the offers went live, buyers flocked to order, with numerous individuals going ahead and making payments after successfully completing the purchase process. However, to their surprise, numerous of these confirmed orders were subsequently canceled without explanation from Flipkart.
The cancellations ushered in an outrage wave on X (formerly Twitter), where customers aired their grievances. Some even branded the Big Billion Days sale as nothing but a "marketing gimmick" and a "scam" to lure users.
“Flipkart #BigBillionDays looks like a big FRAUD. Accept orders at night, cancel in the morning, block money, delay refunds. Customers deserve answers! #FlipkartScam #bigbilliondays2025.”
“@flipkartsupport @Flipkart Looks like you are making fool of customers, my orders for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro were placed successfully during the starting of BBD sale and this morning you cancelled both without any reason. What type of scam is this?”
The problem was not just for the iPhone 16 series. According to reports, iPhone 14 customers also experienced the same cancellation issue after ordering their phones at the time of sale. Most of these customers had ordered their phones on September 23 at midnight.
Interestingly, not all were canceled. Some consumers who used the Flipkart Minutes service said their orders went through successfully, including iPhone 16 units, iPhone 16 Pro units, and even the iPhone 16 Pro Max in early access. This added fuel to speculation that Flipkart could be rationing stock or favoring customers who bought premium service, leaving other customers frustrated.
The cancellations have caused controversy over e-commerce transparency and consumer trust. Although Flipkart has yet to release an unambiguous statement regarding the problem, customers want answers, particularly after payments were debited and refunds are said to be delayed.
With such huge hype revolving around the Big Billion Days sale, it is believed that this controversy can tarnish the reputation of Flipkart if not addressed timely. With so many buyers relying on the platform for festive season discounts, such frequent problems may prompt users to switch to alternative platforms like Amazon's Great Indian Festival Sale 2025, which will be live shortly.
Flipkart Big Billion Days 2025 was supposed to see thrilling deals on flagship models such as the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro, but for most buyers, it was a disappointing experience with order cancellations, payments getting blocked, and delay in refunds. Although some fortunate buyers did get their devices, most customers are complaining against Flipkart for its unscrupulous behavior and asking questions.
As the festive sale season rolls on, only time will tell whether Flipkart will make a statement on these allegations or allow the controversy to die down. But one thing is certain—Indian consumers are no longer going to accept sales practices shrouded in secrecy, particularly when it comes to big-ticket items such as iPhones.
